MINISTER NORBERT IS CURRENTLY THE ACTING MINISTER FOR GENDER AFFAIRS.
Hon. Jeremiah Norbert who is currently overseeing the Portfolio of Public Service, Home Affairs, Labour and Gender Affairs, made a brief stop at the Department of the Public Service on Friday, March 08, to join staff in the celebration of International Women's Day.
In his remarks Hon. Norbert described his female staff as hard-working and wished them well. He said he was looking forward to working with all staff during his stint in accomplishing the tasks of the Government. Turning his attention to the male staff who were present, the Minister assured them that International Women's Day in no way takes anything away from them being men. The involvement of the male members of staff in this year's celebration was nothing short of commendable as they showed appreciation to their female colleagues through musical renditions, poem recitals and the delivery of tokens.
The afternoon's event also included musical renditions by two local musicians, saxophonist James Lewis and song writer and singer, “Ras Afrika”. Staff also reached out to the Minister for the Public Service, Home Affairs, Labour and Gender Affairs, Hon. Dr. Virginia Albert- Poyotte via telephone to extend International Women's Day greetings. She too extended words of endearment to her female staff, and encouraged them to continue to make their contribution to development. Dr. Albert-Poyotte is currently recuperating at home after a sudden illness. International Women's Day 2024 was observed under the theme, " Investing in women: Accelerate progress".
