Saint Lucia records 33 new COVID-19 cases

FOLLOWING 68 RECOVERIES, THE NUMBER OF ACTIVE CASES HAS BEEN REDUCED TO 467.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Wednesday, Oct. 20, confirms a total of thirty- three (33) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 193 samples which were collected between October 17 and October 18, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 17.1% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12, 313.
 
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 68 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 467. Currently, seven (7) individuals are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.
 
To date, a total of 36,519 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 30,845 have received the second dose. A total of 13,082 individuals have received the first dose and 7,601 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
 
Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Vieux Fort Parish Hall and Courts Unicomer at its Marisule, Gros Islet branch. The vaccine will also be distributed at People’s Discount Drugstore on St. Louis Street, Castries by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 4 pm.
